IPOB instructs schools in the South East to teach Biafran history and Geography to their students

Schools in the South Eastern part of Nigeria have been asked to teach their pupils the history and geography of Biafra by the The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to a statement by the group's Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had written schools in the area from nursery to the university in that regard.

It also added that schools that obey the directive would be given grants for scholarships.

"The Indigenous People of Biafra under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu has written and given instruction to every academic institution in the South-East from nursery schools to universities to revert to the original geography textbooks with Bight of Biafra in it.

“IPOB has also asked the schools to commence the teaching of history , especially pre- colonial Biafra.

"Also, IPOB is working with publishers of history and geography textbooks to commence the job to enhance effective work and to ensure the success of the scheme,"the statement reads.

The group stated that the history lessons would focus on the genocide committed against the Igbo during the Nigerian Civil War, while the geography lessons would focus on the removal of the Bight of Biafra by the British and Federal Government.
