Editor's note: Yesterday, Fulani Herdsman allegedly attack some villages in Plateau State, killing more than a hundred persons in what they claimed to be a revenge attack. In this piece, the writer laments on the surprised failure of the President Buhari's government to handle the escalating killings.
We may never know the number of persons massacred in Plateau State by the rampaging Fulani herdsmen. The figures keep changing. But believe me, they are frightening . The pictures emanating from Plateau State are horrible.
Once again, the security agencies under the control of the APC Federal Government have failed Nigerians. In a short while, they will throw up excuses.
With over 200 innocent persons killed in Plateau State this weekend (the Police confirmed 86), I am compelled to believe that the Fulani herdsmen are getting assistance from the security security agencies to perpetrate crimes against humanity.
The entire Christian Belt of the North West, North Central and the North-East have been overrun by Fulani herdsmen . The killer Fulani herdsmen are consistent in their determination to depopulate these communities.
Rather than tackle this major security nightmare, the APC Federal Government has continued to seek ways to appease these killers.
The Fulani herdsmen have license to kill in Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Niger, Kaduna, Edo and Adamawa . In each state where Fulani herdsmen spill blood, the APC Federal Government gives a ridiculous reason.
The APC Federal Government parades a reward for the Fulani herdsmen entrenched carnage across the three geo-Political zones. The APC Federal Government has earmarked N179billion to build ranches. Nothing is being done to contain the Fulani herdsmen.
There are no major arrests of the kingpins of the Fulani herdsmen anywhere in the country. Instead, the security agencies are busy chasing shadows and serving as public relations officers for the Fulani herdsmen. The APC Federal Government practically seeks for scape goats, while leaving the rampaging lions to devour the helpless citizenry. The case of the arrest of Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam is a clear example.
How can the APC Federal Government turn her back on a section of the country? A section that voted in ignorance for the APC.
This administration has delivered nothing in terms of infrastructure, welfare and development. Worse, is the deliberate decision of the APC Federal Government to deny a section of the population security as guaranteed by the constitution.
As usual, the APC Federal Government will condemn the Plateau carnage and declare that the perpetrators will be brought to book. After the press statement, the Federal Government will do nothing, except working to rig the 2019 elections.
The inefficient and ineffective security hierarchy has been maintained despite their repeated failures. The reason is simple, they want to use the inept team for rigging.
This nation is on the edge of the precipice because we do not have a commander-in-chief. The nation is bleeding because we have power-miss-road in Aso Rock. The security agencies have degenerated to mere persecution agencies. They have abdicated their responsibility to the people and have adopted the role of chasing harmless opponents of our power-miss-road.
As Nigerians, we need to save ourselves from untimely deaths. We must use our permanent voters cards to sack this power-miss-road next year. As we vote, we must stand to defend the ballot. Power-miss-road will attempt to rig, but he must be evicted.
By May 29, 2019, let us work to send our failed power-miss-road to Daura to sing lullabies for his grand children. Governance is way beyond his capacity and competence. We cannot continue to watch this bloodshed helplessly.
