The Benue State Government have beaten a Fulani group, The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, in court, after the group challenged the anti-open grazing law, operational in Benue, in court.
The group had filed a challenge to the open grazing prohibition and establishment law passed by the Benue state House of Assembly to a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, which dismissed the challenge.
Justice Okon Abang on Thursday also awarded ₦100,000 damages against the herdsmen.
The fine, according to the presiding judge, will be paid to all the 14 defendants named in the suit.
The judge, in his ruling, held that the plaintiff failed to comply with an order issued by the court in 2017 which directed the association to amend the originating summons.
