Arstist uses books to build a replica of the Parthenon

Argentine artist have used around 100,000 books that were prohibited by the Nazi regime in the 1930s and 1940s, sourced entirely from donations, to construct a full-scale replica of the Parthenon at an exhibition in Germany.

Marta Minujín used books secured by plastic bags to a steel structure on the site to build the "book Parthenon".

The completed art installation is on display at the Documenta 14 art festival in Kassel.

When the exhibition ends later in September, the structure will be dismantled and the books will be recirculated around the world.
