Nigeria's ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) have inaugurated its committee which is saddled with the responsibility of harmonising its position on restructuring.
The committee , which is headed by the Governor of Kaduna State , Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was inaugurated by the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking, the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, explained that the committee, which he termed ‘true federalism,’ formed one of the core negotiating points by the political parties that merged to form the APC.
He said this was the reason that the constitution of “our great party and its manifesto dwelled extensively on the promise of ‘true federalism’. He said, “It is therefore incongruous that our party will renege on our solemn commitment to the institutionalisation of true federalism in our national political life."
