Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, have said only God could stop President Muhammadu Buhari from winning the 2019 Presidential Election, saying,” the President does not need the advice of anybody to make up his mind to run”.
This is apparently
a response to Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Buhari
whereby the ex president termed the incumbent favouring nepotism.
It can be recalled that Governor Bello was among the seven Governors who
went to Aso Rock, a day after 73 herdsmen victims were buried In Benue
state to endorse the re-election bid of Buhari, an action Obasanjo said
was ”a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness”.
But
Governor Bello, at a town hall meeting, in Lokoja township stadium, to mark his
second year anniversary, said he was surprised that the President critics are
deploring all means, including the manipulation of the media, to bring back
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to governance, saying ‘they are all bound to
fail’.
In his words, “The same PDP which
ruined our economy are planning to come back again to power, President Buhari
has poured cold water on them and they are sweating profusely because they can
not contain the remaining six years of his administration”.
The
governor who was conspicuously furious about the absence of the 12 National
Assembly members from the state, at the occasion, lambasted them of doing
nothing to improve the fortunes of the state saying they are rather good in
criticising his administration.
“By
2019 we are going to change all of them and bring credible people to
represent us, for over two years they have been there what project did they
influence to the state, they are doing nothing and only prefer to criticize the
good works we are doing.” Governor Bello added.
On
his own re-election, the governor said he was sure that his achievements would
speak for him but added, “Everything is in the hands of God not any man.”
