Archbishop Desmond Tutu is dead, according to reports coming out of South Africa, his home country.
The Nobel Peace laureate, who helped end apartheid in South Africa, died age ninety.
South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa have revealed that the cleric's death marked "another chapter of bereavement in our nation's farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans".
He added that Archbishop Tutu had helped bequeath "a liberated South Africa".
It can be recalled that Archbishop Tutu, one of the foremost anti apartheid leaders with Nelson Mandela, was one of the driving forces behind the dismantling of the segregation system in the country. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his efforts.
