Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state have been chosen as the running mate of People's Democratic Party's presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, according to reports from People's Gazatte.
Mr Okowa, who had been governor since 2015 in the oil rich Niger Delta state, was chosen after a fierce contest with Governor Nyesom Wike of Delta. The choice was believed to be in the best interest of the party as it seeks a return to power next year.
Eyes are now on Labour Party's Peter Obi and All Progressive Congress' Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to pick a running mate for next year's election.
