Letter shows that Senator Ekweremadu applied for visa for "homeless child", as he is DENIED bail following arrest in the Uk

A letter, accompanying the visa application of an alleged homeless child, have showed that Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who was arrested in the UK, for taking a person abroad for a kidney transplant for his daughter, actually informed the UK authorities.

The document, which was seen by news outlet People's Gazatte, showed Senator Ekweremadu applied for visa for David Ukpo on December 28, 2021.

“I am writing in support of the visa application made by Mr Ukpo Nwamini David who is currently having medical investigations for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu.

“David and Sonia will be at the Royal Free Hospital London, and I will be providing the necessary funding. I have enclosed a statement of my bank account,” the letter said.

However, the Nigerian lawmaker, who appeared in court on Thursday afternoon, have been denied bail. The case was subsequently adjourned until July 7, after the child involved was identified as a homeless 15-year-old from Lagos, Arise TV reported.

Uche Anichukwu, a spokesman for Mr Ekweremadu, confirmed that his principal had been held in the UK.
