Covid 19: Two major reasons why Nigerians won't get any palatives from the Federal Government

It is no longer news that Nigeria's federal government, led by President Mohammadu Buhari, wants to give Nigerians palatives to help them out in this Covid-19 virus pandemic.

The pandemic, better known as corona virus, have infexted more than 400 persons and killed some few dozen others and have affected people in more than a dozen states, according to Nigeria's Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

But with all these Nigerians are yet to beliebe that the government will give them any palative.

These are the two major reasons why.

CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PALATIVE

Most media organisations ahve reported two conditions given by the government on how anyone qualifies for the palatives. The conditions are so shocking that Nigerians have continually reacted to it on social media.

The conditions are that the conditional money transfers won't get to anyone who has more than N5000 in their account and recharges more than 100 naira or 200 naira as airtime.

According to Dailypost, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, says the federal government considers Nigerians who buy N100 call credit as poor and will ensure they get relief cash.

“You are also aware that Mr President in his broadcast directed that we expand the beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer by one million. In this regard, we are going to focus more on the urban poor.

“These are people who depend on the informal sector to earn their livelihood. They are daily wage earners and these are people we are really going to focus more on as well as people living with disabilities,’’ she stated.

This conditions seem extreme and may have excluded so many poor Nigerians from the conditional money transfer. What if someone borrowed N5000? How would they know he or she is lying? What records are they going to use? There are so many questions that are yet to be answered.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S RECORD OF BREAKING PROMISES

This government have a record of breaking its promises. It can be recalled the Buhari government have so many promises that they habent been able to keep. The Cable records over 50. In its article, it listed all.

So the question remains can a government who can't keep promises actually help her citizens? This is heavily debatable but we keep watching. There may be a miracle before the bunger virus, a more dangerous virus than the Covid 19 Virus start killing people.
