Movies have continuously be produced over the years, with so many of them been termed controversial becuase of the roles protested or the people that acted in the movie.
This haven't prevented the movie to be enjoy. Only in very few instances have movies termed controversial been banned.
Here are my top five controversial movies over the years.
PASSION OF CHRIST
In this movie, there have been huge scenes of brutality and violence, especially in scenes that depicted the punishment of Christ.
This movie have also been accused of antisemitism. This means that it is believed to be prejudiced against Jews and, considering that Mel Gibson, the director of this movie has on so many occasions been accused of speaking ill against Jews, that accusation seem to be true.
More importantly, it is accused of not been historically correct.
GAME OF THRONES
These series falls into the category of the best TV shows ever but this have been built around serious controversies. From Khal Drogo practically raping Danaerys and making Theon watch and then Jaime raping Cersei next to the body of their dead son and then Cersei forcing herself on Jaime later on in the series. Rape and incest were recurrenting themes in the show.
DA VINCI CODE
This movie is based on the fictional novel by the same name written by author Dan Brown. In the book, the author claimed that that Mary Magdalene is the Holy Grail and that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene.
The movie also says that they had a child together and that Christ’s descendants are walking the Earth today and that the Catholic Church covered up the truth about Christ’s marriage for nearly two thousand years.
GHOST IN THE SHELL
This movie, based on a Japanese anime, stares Hollywood star Scarlet Johansson playing the lead role of an Asian. The movie have been criticized for white washing and racism seeing as the director even tried to use VFX to make Scarlet Johannson look more Asian.
NYMPHOMANIAC
This movie can almost be termed a "soft porn" movie. Why? It is so full of sex scenes. This caused an uproar.
However, the movie, which stares Shia LaBeouf, have actors stunting sex while the genitalia of porn actors hired for the movie were put in using CGI making it seem like the lead actors are actually having unsimulated sex. This caused a lot of criticism for this movie and it's second part that was released later on.
